Alfred was Sarah’s illegitimate son.

Banns of marriage read between William ELLIOTT and Elizabeth ROGERS in St.Mary, Walmer, Kent on 13/20/27 February 1814. Original marriage register badly damaged and virtually illegible but Family Search says the marriage took place on 7 March 1814
