Death Notice (Cape Archives) says that he was born in Essex in November 1801 and his father was James. Only one baptism seems to fit this.

William, son of James and Sarah GREY was born on November 28th and christened on December 25th 1801 in St.Nicholas, Kelvedon Hatch, Essex
