Death Notice (Cape Archives) says he was born in London, the son of George CHASE

 

London Metropolitan Archives:

 

George CHASE of the parish of Oakingham in the County of Bucks, bachelor, married Elizabeth Matilda CENTLIVRES, spinster, by Licence on 12 July 1792 in St.Margaret's, Lothbury, London.

Both signed their names.

Witnesses: Sarah CHASE and Louisa CENTLIVRES

 

Freedom of the City of London Admission Registers:

This day Mr. Chamberlain having presented unto this Court John James Centlivres CHASE to be made free of this City as the Sixth of Fifty granted unto him by this Court the 31st day of March 1818 to be applied towards the discharge of the Public Debts of this City. It is ordered that the same John James Centlivres CHASE be admitted to the freedom of this City by Redemption in the Company of Founders, paying unto Mr. Chamberlain for this City's use the sum of forty six shillings and eightpence

Beneath this the word Bookseller is written and ringed, to indicate current occupation

John James Centlivres CHASE, son of George and Elizabeth Matilda, was baptised on 14 July 1796 in St.Martin in the Fields, Westminster (born 28 July 1795)

John James Centlivres CHASE, bachelor, married Arrabella Brome ELLIOTT, spinster, by Licence on 18 June 1818 in St.Margaret, Lothbury, London.

Both signed their names.

Witnesses: Sam'l ELLIOTT, Mary S. CHASE and Robert FARR?

 

Louisa Centlivres, daughter of John and Arabella Brome CHASE, bookseller, No.21 Giltspur Street, was baptised on 2 June 1819 in St.Sepulchre, Holborn.
