[mass baptism with siblings Sophia (b 31 May 1790), John (b April 24 1792), Elijah (b 3 May 1795), twins Anne and Isabella (b Sept'r 29 1797), Maria (b 2 May 1799) and Charles (b May 28th 1801]

Address: Prince's Street. Father's occupation: Jeweller.

Susannah GARBETT was actually a widow when she married Joseph DONOVAN

First marriage:

Samuel GARBETT married Susanna CLARK on 6 October 1807 in Christ Church, Southwark.

Lucy, daughter of Samuel and Susanna GARBETT, St.George's, Southwark, baptised 31 July 1808 in St.Andrew's, Holborn

Susanna, daughter of Samuel and Susanna GARBETT, Temple, baptised 10 June 1810 in St.Andrew's, Holborn (born 3 August 1809)

Baptism of Thomas not found.

 

Lucy presumably died in infancy as only Susanna and Thomas GARBETT accompanied their step father Joseph DONOVAN to the Cape.

 

In his 1819 correspondence Joseph makes no mention of his stepdaughters, Susannah and Thomas GARBETT.

 

Joseph and Susanna moved from Grahamstown to Bengal, India c 1828. Susanna died at sea in 1835 during a return voyage to the Cape.
