My Lord,
Entertaining the wish & possessing the pecuniary means of going out as a settler to the Cape of Good Hope conformably with the conditions offered by Government I most respectfully solicit leave for that purpose - I am aged 35 - married but without family - can obtain the testimony of persons of the first respectability as to character & give the required security.
Should this application be honored with your notice & my attendance ordered on an early day it will be duly and dutifully attended to by
Your Lordship's most obedient, humble Servant
