Death Notice (Cape Archives) says he was born in Flushing, Cornwall, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth RICHARDS

Elizabeth RENFREE, daughter of Peter and Elizabeth, baptised 5 October 1772 in Budock, Cornwall

 

Peter RENFREE married Elizabeth RAWLING by banns on 2 January 1768 in Budock, Cornwall

Witnesses: Chas. JOB and Peter RENFREE

 

Gravestone of Peter RENFREE in St.Budock Parish Church (to the left of the porch) reads:

In Memory of Peter RENFREE late of this parish who departed this life March 26th 1826, Aged 81 years. Also Elizabeth RENFREE, wife of the above, who departed this life March 8th 1821, aged 75 years. Likewise seven of their children.
Behold you that this way pass by, As you are now, so once was I. As I am now so you must be. Prepare, therefore, to follow me.

 

Peter RENFREE, husband of Elizabeth RAWLING, was the son of Peter and Wilmot/Willymot RENFREE, His younger sister was Miriam RENFREE, mother of James Jay EVA. The Peter RENFREE/RENFRY who married Wilmot STEPHENS on 7 January 1739 in Budock was the son of Peter and Miriam RENFREE, and was baptised on 29 December 1715 in Budock, Cornwall. 

Gravestone adjacent to that of Peter RENFREE (above) is that of his father and grandfather, both also named Peter.

Sacred to the Memory of Peter RENFREE, who departed this life the 27th day of May 1758, aged 70 years. Also in memory of Peter RENFREE, son of the above, who departed this life the 19th day of June 1774, aged 59 years. Also to the memory of John RENFREE, son of the above, who departed this life the 27th day of December 1818, aged 65 years. 
St.Luke Chap.XXIII Verse 27. Weep not for me but weep for yourselves and for your children.

The Settler Handbook says: Joseph RICHARDS, who according to the sailing list emigrated with a wife and two children, described himself in 1822 as a single man; it is conceivable that 'Sally RICHARDS' on the sailing list was actually Susannah OSLER, and 'Sally' and 'Phillis', aged 3 and 1, her two youngest sisters. It was not uncommon for single women among the emigrants to be listed as 'wives' of unmarried men to avoid paying separate deposits.
