According to death records (Cape Archives) he was born in Ireland ca 1784

 

Death Notice (Cape Archives) of his wife Sarah says she was born in Sussex

Sarah Ann, daughter of Arthur and Sarah BARKER, was baptised 7 August 1811 in St.Mary's, Newington (born 9 July 1811)

Eliza, daughter of Arthur and Sarah BARKER, 16 St.Martin Street, Brewer, was baptised on 24 September 1815 in St.Martin in the Fields

Samuel, son of Arthur and Sarah BARKER, 16 St.Martin Street, Brewer, was baptised on 24 September 1815 in St.Martin in the Fields

Ann, daughter of Arthur and Sarah BARKER, MEOT, Brewer, was baptised on 2 March 1817 in St.Dunstan, Stepney (born 25 January 1817)

Richard, son of Arthur and Sarah BARKER, Strand on the Green, Maltster, was baptised on 4 April 1819 in St. Nicholas, Chiswick (born 4 December 1818)

 

Eliza and Samuel were baptised on the same day but no dates of birth were stated on the register. According to The Settler Handbook Eliza (Elizabeth) was two years older
