Llanllwchaearn, St.Llwychaiarn's Church (historical)
25th January 2020
Sue Mackay
A view of St Llwchaiarn's church painted by John Ingleby in 1796. The church occupies a position on rising ground overlooking the river Severn and is to the north east of Newtown. The present church was rebuilt in 1816. The settlers Eliza and John GRIFFITH, children of Charles GRIFFITH and Bridget OWEN, were baptised here just before the church was rebuilt, in 1795 and 1798 respectively, so the church would have looked like this painting.
