My Lord,

I have now 15 families whom I wish to take out as settlers to the Cape of Good Hope providing they are approved of and your Lordship will favour me with the grant of land as specified in the circular. I shall be glad to attend at any time when called upon in order that I may give you the necessary information respecting myself and these persons who are wishful to accompany me. I will pledge myself they will be found industrious and able bodied individuals and are likely to be of use in the colony should they meet with your Lordship's approbation. Their names, families &c will be found correctly written as under. With all possible respect I am my Lord

Sir,

I should feel myself greatly obliged to you if you would inform me as early as possible of the decision formed upon the proposals which I made a few weeks ago for taking out 15 families as settlers to the Cape of Good Hope, many of that party having articles to dispose of and being quite unsettled as to what course they are to pursue until they hear their fate decided. For my own part I am ready to wait upon you whenever required, and shall be very glad to answer any questions which may be put to me respecting the party and myself. From the number of applications & the certainty that a great number will not be allowed the priviledges that are under consideration causes much anxiety and discourages me from making any preparations. I should feel grateful by your taking the above under consideration and hoping that by my being thus urgent I am not giving any offence.

Having this morning received a decisive answer to my proposals wherein I am told it is not adviseable to accept them I have taken the great liberty of requesting you to inform me if there is an amendment requisite by which they might yet be rendered acceptable to Earl BATHURST. If any of the party should not be considered eligible I could easily substitute others in their stead. I shall consider an early answer a great favour and am Sir
