My Lord,
Having seen a letter in the public prints encouraging immigration to the Cape of Goodhope I take the liberty of offering myself being willing to comply with all the provisions of the Act. I can bring some property with me besides making the deposit. My family consists of a wife 4 Sons and 2 Daughters the oldest a son 14 years all healthy, my trade is in the building line and also acquainted with farming. I can procure most satisfactory Testimonies of character from the Ministers and Magistrate of this Town as also from my Capt. under whom I served in the yeoman these fifteen years last. we are all members of the Church of England
