My Lord,
In consequence of your name appearing in the papers as the one to whom all applications of persons intending to emigrate to the Cape of Good Hope should apply for information on that subject, I presume to address you. If you will have the kindness to let me know the particulars as to the encouragement to individuals, or to an individual taking out with him mechanics, artizans and labourers. Should I meet with encouragement such numbers as may be agreed on I can take under my direction. If it is necessary for me to procure recommendations as to my character, integrity, principles &c I can procure the first in this city. Your speedy answer will oblige my Lord
Your very humble servant
