My Lord,
At the desire of several familys who with myself are desirous to accept the offer made by Government to persons willing to settle at the Cape of Good Hope I most humbly petition your Lordship to be pleased to favour us with the necessary information respecting the same so that should it be in the pleasure of Government to accept us we may lose no time in making the necessary preparations. A report having been circulated in the City that there will be more settlers sent to the Cape shortly after those that go in November have sailed I most humbly petition your Lordship to be pleased to favour us by letting us know if such is the case.
My Lord, yr Lordship's most hbl Petitioner
James GROOMBRIDGE
