Travelled to the Cape in the care of his uncle, James DICKS Senior. His mother was Sarah CROFTS, sister of Jane CROFTS, the first wife of James DICKS

 

Wiltshire Council and Swindon Borough Council Record Office

 

Daniel HARRIS married Sarah CROFT by banns on 14 June 1790 in Longbridge Deverill, Wiltshire

Both made their mark

Witnesses: John CROFT (X) and Edward FRY

 

Robert son of Daniel and Sarah HARRIS baptised October 28 1804 in Longbridge Deverill, Wiltshire

 

Longbridge Deverill Vestry Minutes 1020/55 show that £5 was paid by the parish for Robert HARRIS to emigrate. A further £5 was paid for a James HARRIS.
