If these are the two marriages of the Charles DENTON who emigrated with Richardson's Party, then Charles DENTON was the stepfather of William Senior DENTON. It would also mean that his daughter Ann DENTON was actually a daughter of Elizabeth SENYOR. The Death Notice (Cape Archives) for Ann is consistent with a baptism on Christmas day 1803 in Sheffield, and although it lists her parents as Charles and Ann, those who registered the death would have thought of Ann WOLSTENHOLME as being her mother. If this is correct, then Ann would have been the only daughter to emigrate with Charles and Ann (aka Hannah). Jane DENTON married George ELLIOTT in 1816 and Sarah DENTON married Thomas JEFFERSON in 1820. Both marriages were witnessed by Joseph HUDSON, who was also a witness at the marriage of William Senior DENTON. Ann DENTON was probably listed as aged 13 on the Settler Return so that a lower deposit for a child under 14 would be payable.
