On Wednesday last, the 20th instant, in St.George’s church-yard were interred the mortal remains of Jackson PERRING Esq, Deputy Advocate Fiscal of the Island of Ceylon – having been removed in a hearse and four from Mr. DICKSON’s house in Heeregracht, and followed to the grave in mourning coaches, by His Honor Sir John WYLDE, the Chief Justice; and the Honble Mr. Justice KEKEWICH, one of the Puisne Judges of the Colony; Mr. GROAT of the Bombay Civil Service; Capt. TREVELYAN of the Bengal Cavalry; Dr. McTERNAN; Lieuts. BURT, CRUTTENDEN, TOD and PHILPOT of the Indian Navy and Army; Capt. LOADER of the Palmyra; Dr.THOMPSON of this place and others &c of the Indian Army and Navy. Mr. PERRING, whose family is so well known in London and Devonshire, was a Barrister of the Honble Society of the Middle Temple and Lincoln’s Inn, and had holden office in Ceylon for about 9 years – possessing the public confidence by his professional talents and services, no less than general private esteem and admiration by the suavity of his personal manners and disposition – when the symptoms of his indisposition became so aggravated as to force him to try the effect of a voyage to England; during which, however, it pleased the Almighty to relieve him on the 7th instant from all further suffering – though surely no greater calamity could have fallen on his disconsolate widow (the daughter of Reverend Archdeacon GLENIE of Ceylon) than the loss of such a husband and such a father of her three infant children.
