The public will learn with sincere sorrow of the death of the Rev John LOCKE, Pastor of Trinity Church of this place, who it will be recollected left Graham’s Town only a few weeks ago on his way to England to seek a renovation of his decaying health, worn out and wasted in unceasing and overzealous discharge of the severe duties of his ministry. This mournful event took place on Sunday last, the 7th instant; and we are requested to state that his remains will leave Trinity Church, Graham’s Town at 3 o’clock on Friday next, the 12th, to be deposited in their last resting place. No special invitations to attend his funeral will be given, but his relatives and personal friends charged with the melancholy duties of his interment will be glad of the attendance of all whose feelings shall prompt them to pay the last tribute of respect to the memory of the honored and devoted servant of God, who, after a long and laborious life, spent in good works, and in the fullest confidence and trust in the promises and mercies of his Redeemer, has at last been gathered in to the great harvest.

EMIGRANTS AT NATAL
(Witness)
The German Immigrants introduced by Messrs. JUNG & Co are said to be settling down on their two hundred acre allotment with every appearance of a disposition to carry out the views of those with whom they have entered into a contract. The terms of their engagement are, as we understand, that the Emigrant is to enjoy two thirds of the profits of his industry, during a period of five years – the extent of his agreement. This first batch of Emigrants form a location of 30 families on a farm lately purchased from Mr. BOUCHER for the sum of £1,500, the highest price we have heard of being given for such a property in this colony, and a symptom of the confidence gained in the successful cultivation of cotton. At present the newcomers are engaged in erecting houses for themselves, and the addition of some thirty residences within hail of each other, and surrounded by cultivated fields, will exhibit such a scene as will contrast strikingly with the other denuded parts of our colony.
