BIRTH on Wednesday morning the 30th September, Mrs. H.G. CAITHNESS of a daughter,

At Cuylerville, a spot in the parish of Bathurst, between the Kleinemond and the Great Fish River, a new building, intended for a School-room and Place of Worship, under the superintendence of the Chaplain of Bathurst, was opened on Tuesday the 15th of last month. Prayers were read by the Rev. James BARROW, of Bathurst, and a sermon preached by the Rev. John HEAVYSIDE, of Graham’s Town. Mr. SAFFERY, the Agent of the Colonial Church Society, was present. A collection was made to the amount of £7:14:3½.

NOTICE
It being desired to obtain information respecting Frederick GIBSON, who emigrated to this Colony from London in or about the year 1839, and first took employment in the neighbourhood of Cape Town, and was at times afterwards seen working on the roads. It is requested that any Person who may be able to give any particulars as to the Existence or Death of the said Frederick GIBSON will favor the undersigned with an early communication. And should this meet the eye of the said Frederick GIBSON, he is recommended immediately to address himself to them, as they have something of importance to communicate.

MORTIMORE, Gent, of Paddington-street, and eldest Grand Daughter of James FOULGER Esq, Regent-street, Borough St.Mary-le-bone, to N. STENHOUSE Esq, Rose-street, Cape Town.

It has pleased Almighty God to remove from this world unto the abode of eternal bliss, on the 25th November, after a short illness, the Right Rev. H.P. HALLBECK, Bishop of the United Brethren’s Church, and Superintendent of their Missions in South Africa. A faithful servant of Jesus Christ, his last moments were consecrated to his Redeemer, to Him, whose words and precepts he openly, and on all occasions, had proclaimed, during his life, to Christians and Gentiles. With heavenly joy he met his dissolution from this world, in which he had passed 56 years, 8 months and 7 days. To the numerous friends of the deceased this notice is given by the afflicted widow and daughter.

DIED of a decline, at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 24 days, on the night of Monday the 7th inst, at a quarter before 12 o’clock, my beloved wife Elizabeth Susanna DE LETTRE, born NÖTHLING, after a happy union of 56 years, 1 month and 13 days. She was an affectionate wife and a tender mother. I give this Notice to Relatives and Friends, and request to be excused the visits of condolence. I take this opportunity of returning my heartfelt thanks to the Family, and to the numerous Friends who gave their kind attentions to the deceased during her illness.

The Next of Kin and Creditors of Harriet THOMAS, deceased wife of William MATTHEWS of the Division of Uitenhage, are required to take Notice that the said deceased died intestate, and that a Meeting of the Next of Kin and Creditors of the deceased, and surviving Husband, and all others whom these Presents may concern, will be held before the Resident Magistrate, at his Office, Uitenhage, on Tuesday the 19th January 1841, at 10 o’clock in the forenoon precisely; and all such Persons as aforesaid are hereby required to attend at the place and time aforesaid; then and there to see some Person or Persons selected by such Magistrate, for approval by the Master of the Supreme Court, as fit and proper to be by the said Master appointed Executor or Executors Dative to the Estate of such deceased Person as aforesaid.
