DIED in Cape Town on the 2nd June 1838, Mr. George RAND of Hadleigh in the County of Suffolk. He was much esteemed an beloved by all those who enjoyed the privilege of his Christian Friendship. During the period of three years he resided in Cape Town he laboured with exemplary zeal and Christian love for the advancement of vital religion. He lived a life of prayer, and was an instrument in the hands of the Lord for the winning of souls unto Christ. The Christian Instruction Society in this Town has lost in him one of its most liberal supporters. May his death be sanctified to all those who are now bereaved of his Christian admonitions; and may the remembrance of his eminent attainments in all the Christian graces be deeply impressed on their hearts; that they may endeavour to follow him, even as he has followed Christ.

DIED on the 4th June 1838 at his House in St.George’s Street, aged 67 years 9 months and 9 days, J.H. NEETHLING Esq LLD, formerly Secretary to the Government, and Member of the late Court of Justice, deeply lamented by his Widow, who requests to be excused the visits of condolence.
