London – Amelia, the beloved wife of Captain John FAWCETT, aged 28 years. Her mind was in full vigour to the last, resting alone on the merits and atonement of her precious Saviour, perfectly calm and resigned to the will of her Heavenly Father. She departed this life on Sunday morning, May 8th, about half past three o’clock, and entered her eternal rest – a Sabbath indeed.

JOHNSTON RN, having been grossly insulted and assaulted by Dr. DARSEY of the ship Childe Harold, while on her passage from Bombay, and not having succeeded in procuring a friend in the first two days after his arrival here; I, feeling his situation, there being no Officer of the Squadron on the spot, on Thursday last (the third day) offered my services. I twice uged Dr. DARSEY to give Lieut. JOHNSTON the only satisfaction left in his power, after the gross manner in which he had behaved, but without success.

Mr. Robt. CRAILL, Blacksmith, whose wife, aged 37 years, died after 3 days’ illness, leaving him with 5 children on Monday last. And on Friday 26th the House and Premises in which he lived were totally consumed by fire in the course of an hour, leaving him and his children destitute. Subscriptions will be received and forwarded to the Committee to be appointed to superintend its distribution by Mr. ROSE, Commercial Hall, and J.P. INGRAM at ELLIOTT Brothers, and by the Committee at George.

It is our painful task this week to announce the death of Mrs. THOMSON, wife of the Rev. W.R. THOMSON, Minister of the Reformed Church at Kat River. To all who were acquainted with the deceased, the record of her virtues as a friend, a neighbour, a wife, a mother and a Christian will never be erased from their remembrance. She has left her bereaved partner and a family of seven young children to deplore their premature and irreparable loss.
